Bharathidasan University Distance Education Courses will be administered by the Centre for Distance Education (CDE), which was established in the year 1992. The main motto of the CDE is to serve students who could not enter regular colleges for higher education.

Bharathidasan University Distance Education Programs are offered in strict compliance with the norms set up by UGC, hence there is a good demand for the courses offered by the Centre for Distance Education of the University.

As of now, around  60 programs are offered by the Bharatidasan University Distance Education, which includes 12 Undergraduate, 21 Post Graduate, 6 Diploma/Certificate Courses, and 7 Professional Programmes which include MBA, and MCA.

There was a higher emphasis on the practicals as regular programs, and all the programs are planned meticulously by the CDE. Bharathidasn University Distance Education is offering the latest market demand and job-oriented courses like Computer Science and Applications, Information Technology, E-Commerce, Bank Management, Financial Management, Library and Information Science, Animation, etc.

For the benefit of the working people, theory and practical classes of the Personal Contract Programme are being conducted on Saturdays and Sundays. These classes are strictly monitored by the staff and Director of the Bharatidasan University Centre for Distance Education.
